In early 2021, IEC welcomed Pastor Dr. Steve Winstead from the USA to serve as Lead Pastor of the church. Here is a brief introduction as provided by our lead pastor.
My name is Steve Winstead. I grew up in a small town in the United States. I began attending church when I was nine years old. My Granddad noticed that none of his grandsons were going to church so he took me and my two male cousins to church. He told us he would pay us if we went to Sunday School every Sunday that month. I think he paid us once – we quickly developed friends at church and enjoyed going! I became a Christian the summer between fourth and fifth grade. I was attending Vacation Bible School when I first heard the gospel. The pastor of my church was talking about the need and joy of accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. He explained that Jesus died for the sins of the world, including mine, and that if I trusted that He paid the price for me then I would live with Him forever. I remember trusting Jesus Christ at that time. Since that time, God has faithfully provided men to invest in me and help me walk more fully in light of the gospel.
I started serving in ministry as a youth pastor. After serving as a youth pastor I pioneered the international work for Downline Ministries. During this time I traveled to one 40 countries, led over 70 international trips, and sent out more than 200 discipleship training teams. In 2013, I helped plant Harvest Church in Memphis, TN, USA serving as Missions and Teaching Pastor.
I received a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Kentucky. I received my Masters of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary and my Doctorate from Fuller Theological Seminary. I have also done course work at Dallas Theological Seminary and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. I have taught classes at colleges and seminaries in Bible, Theology, Missions, and Church History.
I am married to Margaret, a certified counselor and stay at home mom, and we frequently counsel engaged couples preparing for marriage. I enjoy shepherding my family, teaching God’s word, discipling men, and running marathons (including Boston). Margaret and I have four boys: Samuel, Noah, Benjamin, and Daniel.
